How to Give Helpful Feedback

If you receive your first round of designs and they aren’t exactly what you envisioned, take a deep breath. We promise—this is part of the process. Design is collaborative, and our goal is always to create something you love. Getting the perfect design sometimes takes refining, adjusting, and problem-solving together. We’re on your team, and we’ll get there!

That said, how you provide feedback can make a huge difference in how smoothly and effectively we get to the final design. Here’s how to give feedback that’s productive and helps us create something amazing together.

1. Focus on Problems, Not Solutions

One of the most important things to remember is that you hired us for our expertise. Instead of prescribing a specific fix (e.g., “Make the logo bigger”), describe the issue you’re seeing (e.g., “The logo doesn’t stand out enough”).

If something isn’t working, let us know what feels wrong (“it’s too colorful,” “I wish the names popped more,” “it looks too busy,”), so we can come up with the best solution.

The design process works best when we work as a team, and part of our role is to take your concerns and address them in a way that keeps the overall vision strong and cohesive.

It can also be helpful to share broader thoughts on how the design feels overall—does it seem too cluttered? Too modern? Too out-of-the-box for your brand? Providing these insights allows us to adjust holistically rather than just tweaking individual elements.

2. Be Specific About What You Like and What You Don’t

Vague feedback like “It’s not working for me” or “I don’t love it” doesn’t give us enough direction to make meaningful changes. Instead, try pointing out exactly what you do and don’t like. For example:

✔️ “We love the texture and color palette, but we’re not sure about the typography—it feels too modern for our brand.”

✔️ “This layout is great, but we feel like it needs more breathing room.”

Also, sometimes a design element might not be the actual problem. For instance, if you don’t like the border, it might actually be the color that’s throwing you off rather than the border itself. If you’re unsure, let us know what’s bothering you, and we can help pinpoint the issue. That’s what we’re here for.

3. Remember That We’re People (But Professional Ones!)

We want to make something you love, and we don’t take offense when something isn’t quite right! That’s part of the job, and we welcome feedback. That said, we’re also human beings who are creating art, and we appreciate professionalism and kindness in communication.

If you’re feeling frustrated or disappointed, that’s completely understandable—but we ask that feedback remains constructive and respectful. We’re working together toward the same goal, and a positive, professional tone makes the process much more productive for everyone.

Honesty is great, but please be kind!

4. The Revision Process: What to Expect

We include up to three rounds of revisions in every project. While we rarely need all three, they’re there to ensure you get a design you truly love. In the rare case that more revisions are needed, we’re happy to keep refining the design—but additional rounds will come at an extra cost.

Final Thoughts

Feedback is a crucial part of the creative process, and the more thoughtful and specific it is, the easier it is to refine the design into something you love. We’re here to collaborate with you, and we appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing your thoughts! With open communication and mutual trust, we’ll create something truly incredible together.
